Printworks’ Final Weekend: A Farewell to London’s Iconic Club

Printworks, the iconic electronic music venue in South London, is set to close its doors after six successful years of operation. This closure has left many music lovers feeling disappointed and saddened by the loss of yet another legendary venue. Printworks was a place where people came from far and wide to dance the night away to the hottest DJs in electronic music. The venue’s humongous size and excellent programming were renowned and made it one of the best clubs in the world, beating out competitors such as Berghain and Ushuaïa.

Despite being ranked the second-best club in the world by DJ Mag last week, Printworks will close its doors this weekend. The closure is due to a regeneration project planned for the area, which will see the club replaced by offices and shops. Although there is talk of Printworks returning in a few years after the redevelopment is complete, it’s unclear whether the club will return to the same building. In the meantime, music lovers are left mourning the loss of another great club and London should be too for it was truly a special space.

The team behind the venue have hinted at plans to reopen in the same building in the future, promising to continue its tradition of delivering top-notch electronic music experiences, assuring its Twitter followers that discussions around the design, planning, and delivery of a future Printworks continue, and that the venue will remain dedicated to reopening in the same building as soon as possible.

To mark its closing, Printworks has hosted over 40 shows throughout its final season, culminating in two special shows headlined by surprise guests, which will be joined by a star-studded lineup of DJs, including Peggy Gou and Roisin Murphy.
