Bristol’s pioneering drum & bass live act will return to the UK stage in 2027 to celebrate three decades of their landmark album.

Thirty years on from the release of New Forms, Roni Size and Reprazent are heading back out on the road. The Bristol collective will play nine UK dates in June 2027, bringing the live project behind one of drum & bass’s most important albums back together for a run that will culminate in their hometown.

Released in 1997, New Forms arrived when drum & bass was still establishing itself beyond the rave scene. Roni Size had already become a central figure in Bristol’s electronic music community, but Reprazent gave him a different way to approach the music — one that brought live instrumentation, jazz, soul and hip-hop influences into the increasingly sophisticated world of drum & bass.

Reprazent didn’t simply put a live band around drum & bass. They changed the scale of what the music could be, bringing jazz musicianship, soulful vocals and Bristol’s deep-rooted electronic culture together without losing the raw momentum of the breakbeat.

Tracks including ‘Brown Paper Bag’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Watching Windows’ helped make New Forms a defining record of the era, while the album’s combination of electronic production and musicianship gave Reprazent a genuine identity as a live band rather than simply a producer-led project.

Its impact was recognised outside the dance music world, too. New Forms won the 1997 Mercury Music Prize, putting Roni Size Reprazent in competition with some of the biggest names in British music at the time, including The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers.

For the 30th anniversary shows, Roni Size will be joined by the Reprazent live band, with Dynamite MC and Onallee among the returning vocalists. The tour will also feature drum & bass veterans Fabio & Grooverider as support at all dates apart from London.

The UK run begins at O2 Academy Bournemouth on 3 June 2027, before travelling through Birmingham, London, Leeds, Nottingham, Newcastle, Manchester and Glasgow.

The final show takes place in Bristol on 25 June, with Reprazent headlining Bristol Sounds at Canons Marsh Amphitheatre.

For Size, the anniversary isn’t simply about looking backwards.

“30 years ago we started something that was never supposed to stand still. Three decades later, the sound is still moving forward. Reprazent are back – 30 years, one legacy, and a whole new journey.”

That idea feels particularly appropriate for New Forms. The album captured a moment when drum & bass was changing rapidly, but its influence has lasted because Reprazent never treated the genre as a fixed formula.

Three decades later, the record still sits comfortably in the history of British electronic music — and hearing it performed live by the musicians who created it should make this anniversary tour considerably more than a trip down memory lane.
