Eats Everything has finally delivered one of his most talked-about edits, an official rework of Diana Ross’s iconic disco hit Upside Down. A staple in the world of dance music, the edit has been given the green light by none other than the track’s original masterminds, Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, cementing its place in disco royalty.
The journey of this track is as unexpected as it is impressive. “I knocked this together ages ago as a bootleg, just messing about on a plane,” Eats Everything explains. “I played it out, and it absolutely blew up. Passed it to a few mates, and the reaction was exactly the same—it just went off. Then, out of nowhere, Sony reached out to say they’d cleared the sample. They even told me Nile Rodgers himself had given it his blessing, calling it ‘the one’ and saying it would be massive. Of course, I jumped at the chance to put it out. Now here we are—probably the most requested track I’ve ever done.”
The edit, available now is already making waves, following in the footsteps of Eats Everything’s recent hit Happy People, featuring Stevie Appleton. Earlier this year, he also joined forces with Chris Lorenzo and Lily McKenzie for Ghosts, a moody collaboration that showed a different side to his production style.
Eats Everything has been on a roll in recent years, balancing high-profile collaborations with boundary-pushing solo work. Last year, he teamed up with Nissan’s Formula E team for Feeel, a track inspired by high-speed racing, while also dropping Move (featuring NEZ) and Get Up with ShezAr. Let’s not forget his 2022 link-up with Fatboy Slim for Bristol to Brighton, a love letter to their respective hometowns and a prime example of Eats’ ability to bridge genres and generations.
