Ghetto Priest – Hercules EP

If you dig Aaron Neville’s rare groove classic ‘Hercules’ recorded all the way back in 1973, then you know you’re gonna to dig this.

If you dig Aaron Neville’s rare groove classic ‘Hercules’ recorded all the way back in 1973, then you know you’re gonna dig this. Recorded at ‘The House of IMIZWA studios, Ghetto Priest (Asian Dub Foundation) teamed up with Carlton ‘Bubbler’ Ogilvie to produce a totally fresh reggae version of the record. Mr. Ogilvie is on keyboards, Ital horns on brass, the superb Greg Blackman on backing vocals and Crucial Tony sitting in on guitar, whilst Ghetto sings the words in his own sublime way. This is the original version taken from his new album ‘Big People Music’.

On the flip side the North Street West ‘HOLYVOODOU’ remix, Ashley Beedle and Darren Morris take the track sort of back to its roots, gliding along with more keyboards and a strong hand-clapping presence that definitely compliments the original by Mr. Neville with its Bayou Funk feel. A North Street West Dub and Radio Edit completes the EP. ‘Hercules’ is out soon on Ramrock Records.
