Matthew Spencer / UK
It all started out around 1992 for Matthew, a schoolboy who was influenced into the Legends scene listening to the likes of Adam Wilson, Noggy and Andy Garvey. He soon bought his first set of decks. (a pair of KAM beltdrives and a Tandy’s Realistic Mixer).
Record hunting every weekend with his mates, either nipping on the bus to Wigan or catching the train to Manchester spending his pocket money. At the age of around 18/19 he stopped playing records as the music scene had moved on and he wasn’t really into the music being released at the time.
Around 2012 he got back into listening to oldskool/early prog house again. He soon bought a controller and started playing again. Which this time he took more seriously, he got asked to play a local event in Wigan and hasn’t looked back. He bought a set of turntables again around 2 years ago. ( vestax’s pda a1 mk2s) and now hold 3 residencies around Wigan and Leigh (Vinylism, Shindigs and Progress), playing his own unique style. “I’m very passionate about my music and I like to show people the different avenues and ways of playing oldskool, early progressive house as it’s not always about the classics”
